It’s a new year

10 January 2012

Welcome to 2012.

All of us here at Trinity wish you a peaceful year.

Farewell to David

18 July 2011

This coming Sunday, the 24th, marks the end of an era. Our minister is moving on after nearly 6 years to take care of two churches in Weymouth. Conincidentally, it’s also the day we’re hosting our friends from the United Reformed Church in Widmore Road, and the Bromley Methodists for a joint service, so it’s going to be a busy morning.

It would be a good day to visit us.

Minister’s message for June

30 May 2011

Let no one ever come to you
without leaving better and happier

(Mother Theresa)

What a challenge Mother Theresa gives us – as individuals
and what a challenge she gives us – as a church

Difficult I know, but just think! If this was the impact we had on just 10% of the people we met, how many more friends would we have? How much better would our community be? How much larger would we at Trinity be?!!

Minister’s Easter message

31 March 2011

Where was God on March 11th ?!!

And where is God now ?!!

A few days previous, I had been reading a book by Madame Guyon – the 17th century French mystic, who was making the very good point that God is with us when everything seems to be going wrong just as much as when everything seems fine. God was with Joseph just as much during his years in prison as He was in the Palace. God was with Daniel just as much in the Palace as in the Lion’s den.

Minister’s message for March

27 February 2011

Easter is late this year – 24th April – and therefore Lent does not start on Ash Wednesday until March 9th.   I must admit that personally I’ve never been someone who gave up things for Lent and I can certainly justify that – it’s not in the Reformed tradition.  But… isn’t it amazing how we can rationalise things – how we can justify what we want to.

If I’m honest I should also admit that my birthday tends to come in the period of Lent and this has rather constrained my willingness to give up things! However, it’s not always so!  I was born on Shrove Tuesday and in the over 50 years since then 4 times my birthday has not been in the period of Lent. And, this year of 2011 will be the 5th!!

So, perhaps this year would be a good year to think about giving something up! Or perhaps to take something up!!

Carols & mince pies

19 December 2010

Alas, the weather has beaten us and the service tonight at 6 pm, which was to have been the postponed carols and mince pies service is now cancelled.

Sorry to disappoint.

Carols & mince pies

10 December 2010

Further to the last post, and due to popular demand, we’re going to hold Carols and Mince pies this coming Sunday evening, in place of the Carols by Candlelight service at 6 pm.   So note the different time.

Update to carols & mince pies

7 December 2010

Regretfully, we’ve decided to cancel the carols and mince pies.  We looked at holding it on another day this year, but it didn’t work out.

Sorry to disappoint.
